The Written Curriculum
What we want students to learn.
The Middle School curriculum at International School Suva is designed to provide a student-centred education which equips the students with the knowledge and skills to help them achieve success both in school and beyond the classroom. There is a focus on identifying students’ personal strengths, and providing a lot of encouragement and support to help them embrace challenges in their learning.
Our curriculum draws from the Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum framework. This framework offers schools the flexibility to develop a curriculum that suits the needs of our children in the Middle School from Year 6 (11-12 year olds to Year 8 (13-14 year olds). As a school we strive to ensure that where possible, students develop disciplinary (and interdisciplinary) understanding using an inquiry approach, through the development of interdisciplinary units. Key concepts are taught through transdisciplinary themes and related concepts from various disciplines.
